The Chthonic Shrine

Tracking through the woods, the party located a horde of undead feasting on the flesh of a fallen girl. They dispatched them quickly using ranged attacks, and soon, their efforts would reveal a half-covered passage entrenched in the woods, stone, and dirt, with steps descending below. They entered, discovering an ancient ruin littered with the skeletons of their enemies – the Red-Cloaked Ones. Determined to uncover their secrets, the team advanced, learning a shrine dedicated to the Chthon, the race of demons.

The party is currently holed up in a room, past a Hallway of Wailing Faces, behind a chained door that has been picked:

Lined along the this longwise chamber, you see numerous tables, three on each side, adorned with skeletal figures in unnatural positions. The tables are arranged symmetrically, having etched trails along their surfaces leading to a bowl-like hole at their base. At the end of the chamber, a strange stone, tall and black, smooth and polished, rests.

The walls are lined with faded murals, depicting scenes of chaotic battle—strange creatures locked in combat with warriors, their figures blurred with the passage of time. Dust lingers in the air, and the room remains eerily still, as though nothing has disturbed this place for ages. Scattered fragments adorn the room. While the skeletons are chained to their tables, bones are also piled in odd places all about. Armor and weapons – accoutrements of a battle – are among them.
